If you crave an out of the ordinary extreme diving experience that will test your skill, nerves and sanity then San Diego Shark Diving is the place for you!

"Doc" Anes is the owner and operator of San Diego Shark Diving and he along with his crew provide one of the most exciting diving adventures offered on the West Coast of California. Doc and his crew are friendly, courteous and have safety first and foremost in their minds.

They specialize in one day Blue & Mako Shark excursions off the coast of San Diego. The shark dive locations are blue water dives in 2500-3000 feet of water. No bottom in sight! Their dive boat is especially equipped with an aluminum shark cage that is tethered off the stern in about 25-30 feet of water.

Upon arrival at the dive site, the cage is deployed and the crew start to chum for sharks. The San Diego Shark Diving crew known as "Shark Wranglers" suit up in chain-mail diving gear and take specially designed containers below the surface to start to feed the animals with bait as they arrive.

Once the sharks are feeding, groups of divers are escorted down the drift lines to the cage where they spend around 30 minutes or so observing the sharks from safety within the cage. Groups of divers are cycled in and out of the cage to give everyone repeated opportunities with these wonderful, dangerous and mysterious creatures.

It's an all day adventure, one unlike you will ever experience again. I highly recommend this dive and this dive operator. Besides their Blue & Mako dive trips they also offer Great White Shark trips to Guadalupe Island in Mexico.

Doc and the crew of San Diego Shark Diving deserve my 5 Dive Flag Rating for Excellence.

Editors Note - October 2006:

I recently spoke with Doc Anes and I am sad to report that San Diego Shark Diving are no longer running the one day Blue & Mako dive trips. According to Doc Anes, they can no longer provide successful trips due to commercial overfishing for "shark fins".

According to Anes, over 100 million sharks are being slaughtered each year just for their fins and the species can not reproduce quick enough to keep up with their losses.

San Diego Shark Diving focuses primarily on the Great White adventures at Guadalupe Island in Mexico and other exotic destinations throughout the world.
